Elementary Program Summer Camp

Trinity Children's Center

Summer Camp

Summer 2023

Trinity's Summer Camp program is offers a wide variety of fun activities while encouraging all aspects of the children's development. Every aspect of the day is planned, to include a variety of different types of activities at varying activity levels throughout the day.

Camp Activities

  • Art: Last year we had an artist of the Week: Children will learn about an artist and do an art project in that artist's style. The children's artwork was presented at a summer art show.
  • STEM/STEAM: There will be a STEM activity each week. These activities will promote the use of science and technology to promote teamwork, experimentation, adaptability and problem solving.
  • Crafts: Each week there will be craft activities.
  • Mission of the Week: Each week the children will participate in a mission project. Missions help share God's love and teach the children about the importance of helping others. Some mission projects may include: delivering Mobile Meals, a car wash and lemonade stand fundraisers to donate to a charity of the children's choice, sympathy/get well cards, singing at a nursing home etc.
  • Group Games/Sports: Children will be provided a variety of large and small group games, both inside and outside. Some will be very active and some will be lower energy in the classroom. A variety of locations will be used to play games, including the field, gym, park, Fellowship Hall and classrooms.
  • Theme Weeks/Theme Days: Everyone LOVES theme days, and theme weeks… such as Bike Week, Sports Camp Week and Vacation Bible School Week. There will be a theme day or two each month.
  • Christian Education: Christian education will be incorporated into a variety of daily activities. Children will pray at every meal and learn 2-5 prayers during the summer. Chapel will be offered by the minister and there will be devotions and mindfulness activities throughout the summer.
  • Read and Rest: Most days the children will have time to read and rest. Teachers typically read 2-3 books to the younger children (K-2nd grad) and then the children are given time to read on their own, or rest. The older children are given time to read or rest independently. The children are able to participate in the summer reading program through the library while at Trinity. The children keep up with the books they read which can make them eligible for prizes at the end of the summer.
  • Library Visits: The children will be given opportunities to read and check out books approximately every other week. The children will also participate in special library programs when possible.

Field Trips

On a typical week (not including theme weeks), children will go to the movies, go swimming twice, deliver Mobile Meals and go on a "big" field trip to places such as:  the Kid Senses Museum, Fishing, Croft State Park (fishing, hiking, wading), Lake Lure (fishing), Cottonwood Trail (biking, hiking or wading), Paris Mountain State Park, Table Rock State Park, Skating, Bowling, Ice Skating at the Greenville Pavilion, Pump-It-Up, Greenville Zoo etc.
