Typical Routine

Each afternoon is divided into segments for snack, homework and playtime. The actual time and location for these activities will vary by group. Parents will be notified of the group schedules at the beginning of each year.

SNACK

Children start the afternoon off with time to have a healthy snack while they socialize with their friends. Snack typically includes fruit (or a vegetable) each day and children are allowed to get seconds. On full days, such as teacher work-days/holidays, children are provided with a morning and afternoon snack. A snack calendar is posted in the classroom or outside the door to keep parents informed of what is being offered for snack.

HOMEWORK TIME

Homework is an important aspect of Trinity's After School Care program. Children are divided into to small homework groups Monday-Thursday. Children are given between 15 minutes to an hour to complete their homework depending on their age group. Group leaders will help explain directions, answer questions and check homework. Children are expected to have their homework checked and then they can play quietly until homework time is finished. All children are allowed to go play when the allotted homework time is over.

PLAY TIME

Play time is one of the most important times of the day, as children need time to relax, socialize and be active. During play time, children are able to play in the gym, at Trinity's Little Playground, at Trinity's Garden, at Happy Hollow Park or in the classroom. The activities that are offered range from music and movement, crafts, open ended art, free play on the playground, child-led activities both inside and out and organized games in the gym or in the classroom and free time to play with all of Trinity's fun toys.

FIELD TRIPS

Field trips are typically offered every other Friday and on Teacher Workdays/Holidays. Some of the field trip options include:  Skating, Cleveland Park, Tyger Park, Wading at Andrews Farm, Hiking at Cottonwood, Tennis, Bowling, Gymnastics, Soccer, Science Center, Movies, Swimming, Feeding the Ducks at Duncan Park or Millikan, McMillian Park

RUNNING CLUB

Trinity Children's Center's weekly running club is open to children in K-5 through 5th grade. In order to be a member children must commit to do their best, dress appropriately and they must support the other runners. The club rotates between running in Converse Heights, the Cottonwood Trail, the Rail Trail and playing running games.

WALKING CLUB

Children at Pine Street Elementary are given the choice to walk the 1/2 mile back to Trinity with a teacher or to ride the bus. Children leave their bookbags on the bus. The children that choose to participate enjoy having a little fresh air and exercise as they socialize with friends before homework time. At the end of the year there is a party for everyone that walks at least 5 miles and there are prizes for children that walk even further. Many children will have walked between 30 and 60 miles by the end of the school year.
